Job summary

Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) in West Chester, PA is seeking a Recreation Specialist to design, create and implement recreational and social activities for children/adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs in residential programs. The role emphasizes creativity, structured activities and positive role modeling.

The position offers advancement opportunities, training in PBIS, ABA and related frameworks, and a competitive schedule

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• At least three year’s experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and behavior disorders providing recreational and leisure activities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with data collection/analyzing platforms (Radar, Pro-Filer) or similar.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and oversee social and recreational programs for students with autism, developmental and/or behavioral disabilities.
• Through established recreational procedures, track, record and implement effective recreational activities.
• Schedule use of gymnasium, pool and other recreational areas.
• Schedules, oversees and implements special events and activities, as well as monitors appropriate documentation and records.
• Maintains supplies and inventory for unit activities
