Job summary

Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay seeks a Deployed Forces Support Coordinator to assist the Deployed Forces Manager with professional recreation program management and training for afloat personnel. The role coordinates departmental efforts in delivering recreational services to both homeport and visiting fleet units.

The candidate will document KSAs, manage budgets and funds, and ensure compliance with Navy policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Job description

This position is assigned to Naval Submarine Base (NSB) Kings Bay, Georgia. The position functions as the Deployed Forces Support (DFS) Coordinator and is responsible for assisting the Deployed Forces Manager in providing professional recreation program management assistance and training to afloat recreation program personnel and for coordinating the overall departmental efforts in providing recreational service support to homeport and visiting fleet units.

Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following specialized experience:

  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts and techniques of recreation, Navy policies, organization and administration in order to provide direct assistance on a daily basis to fleet units.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding the expenditure and accountability of Appropriated and Non-Appropriated Funds.
  • Knowledge of functional areas or recreation program accounting, auditing, procurement, general program administration, and funds management.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of fitness equipment.
  • Knowledge of exercise equipment suitable for shipboard use.
  • Skill in designing shipboard fitness spaces.
  • Skill in both written and oral communication to communicate with homeported and visiting afloat commands, various managers of NSB Kings Bay, MWR Department personnel and members of the local communities to arrange for recreational activities for the fleet.
  • Skill in the use of common computer applications such as: word processing, database, spreadsheet and desktop publishing.
  • Ability to maintain a clear and accurate database.
  • Ability to represent the department and speak in front of both small and large groups.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

RELOCATION: NO Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) is authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.

KEY REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Selectee must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Selectee is required to participate in the direct deposit pay program.
