Job summary

The State of South Carolina, Department of Corrections, is seeking a Recreation Program professional to plan, coordinate, implement, and monitor recreation activities for the inmate population. The role includes fitness and wellness classes, volunteer coordination, and supervising recreation staff.

You will design programs for inmates, including special needs populations, and ensure training requirements are met, such as completing four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, therapeutic recreation or related field can be substituted for experience.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements

High school diploma and relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, therapeutic recreation or a related field can be substituted for experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements

• A high school diploma and two (2) years’ experience in the recreation field.
• A bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, therapeutic recreation or a related field can be substituted for experience.
