The State of South Carolina, Department of Corrections, is seeking a Recreation Program professional to plan, coordinate, implement, and monitor recreation activities for the inmate population. The role includes fitness and wellness classes, volunteer coordination, and supervising recreation staff.

You will design programs for inmates, including special needs populations, and ensure training requirements are met, such as completing four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, therapeutic recreation or related field can be substituted for experience.

Responsabilités

• Plan, coordinate, develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive recreation plan for the inmate population.
• Conduct physical fitness, wellness and health education classes.
• Coordinate volunteers and community resources to assist in these areas.
• Select, train and supervise inmate recreation assistants; initiate and supervise tournament activities; supervise hobbycraft programs and IRC program.
• Design and implement recreation program for the special needs inmate population.
