Job summary

Equus Workforce Solutions is seeking a Recreation Program Director to lead recreation programs for Job Corps trainees. This role focuses on planning, organizing and directing activities that promote social development while ensuring safety and cost efficiency.

The position oversees staff, forges partnerships with community providers, and coordinates monthly event calendars. It requires managing costs, logs, and uniform inventories for trainees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field; or 4–6 years related experience and/or training

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and directs comprehensive recreation programs within the Job Corps Program
• Develops and promotes recreational programs which meet the needs of all trainees - Schedules activities in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner
• Extends partnerships to other recreational providers in the community
• Oversees staffing patterns and development of all staff within department
• Submits Calendar of Events for review monthly by the Director of Social Development by the 15th
• Meets with new students during first week of Stay and monitors trainee participation in activities based on spending limits
• Ensures activity costs and trainee participation logs are reconciled with Accounting; maintains stock of trainee uniforms and athletic garments
• Schedules a variety of recreational programs which encourages maximum trainee participation leading to positive social behaviors
• Other duties as assigned
