Job summary

The Maplewood Township is seeking a Manager of the Recreation Division to oversee planning, promotion, and supervision of a broad range of recreational sports and activities. The role requires coordinating programs for all ages, reporting on progress, and managing schedules with varying hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Two years’ experience in recreation program development or a degree in recreation is required, together with a valid New Jersey driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience planning, promoting, and developing recreation programs at a recreation facility or community center.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with specialization in recreation or similar field.
• Valid NJ driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement a variety of recreational activities and supervise progress of each activity.
• Inspect fields for playability during early morning hours.
• Monitor and supervise Program Supervisors in the Recreation Division.
• Organize trips, tournaments, socials, teams, schedules, and transportation as needed.
• Oversee and schedule Township facilities; inform the public of fees and services.
• Prepare progress reports and update website/registration systems.
• Create requisitions and purchase orders; onboarding of new staff.
• Assist in payroll submissions and liaise with finance.
