The Virginia Recreation and Park Society in Hopewell, Virginia, is seeking a dedicated individual to assist with the delivery of recreational activities. Responsibilities include implementing various programs, supervising participants, and managing facilities while ensuring a positive experience for the public.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, exceptional communication skills, and at least one year of experience in recreation or public service. The position involves both indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions, requiring physical stamina and the ability to work flexible hours.
Assists with the frontline delivery of recreational activities for varying age groups and ability levels.
Minimum Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience with special events, working with the general public, managing public facilities, or any appropriate combination of related work experience.
Knowledge: General knowledge of recreation and parks activities, programs, classes, and special events
Skills: Exceptional communication skills
Abilities: Ability to work varying shifts depending on programmatic needs of the department
Ability to work directly with the general public in a variety of program settings
Ability to complete physically demanding work assignments
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor climates. This position will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions such as rain, extreme heat, extreme cold, sun, and wind.
Work extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays
Essential Physical Activities: Stooping, crouching, walking, grasping, hearing, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception.
