Job summary

City of Atlanta, GA is seeking a Recreation Operations Assistant - Transportation to provide safe, on-time transportation for youth, teens and senior patrons to programs offered by the Office of Recreation, Parks & Recreation.

You will operate City vehicles, follow routes and safety procedures under supervision, supporting after-school, teen leadership, senior programs, special events and related activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation services to youth, teens, and senior patrons participating in Office of Recreation programs.
• Transport internal customers including senior management, City Council members, visiting dignitaries, and officials as needed.
• Operate City vehicles safely and in an orderly manner, following routes and program schedules.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while supporting after-school, teen leadership, senior programs, and special events.

General Description and Classification Standards:

This position is responsible for providing transportation services to youth, teens, and senior patrons who participate in programs offered by the Office of Recreation, Department of Parks & Recreation. This position is also required, on occasion, to transport internal customers who may include senior management, and City Council members; as well as visiting dignitaries, business executives, and state/federal officials. As the operator of a City vehicle, this position will make certain that patrons are transported - in a safe and orderly manner - from pick-up locations to designated programs and/or events. These programs include, but are not limited to:

• After-School Programming
• Special Needs Programming
• Teen Leadership Programming
• Prime Time Senior Programming
• Food Service Programming
• Specialty Programs (i.e., swim, golf, pickle ball)
• Camp Best Friends
• Special Events

Supervision Received:

Works under the direct supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, while executing routes and completing related duties. Travel routes, assigned tasks, and specific instructions are closely monitored by the Transportation Supervisor, to make certain that departmental needs and requests are met.
