Job summary

City of Atlanta Careers seeks a Recreation Operations Assistant - Transportation within the Parks & Recreation department. The role provides transportation services for youth, teens, and senior patrons attending programs such as after-school, teen leadership, Prime Time Senior, and special events.

The incumbent will operate a City vehicle and ensure safe, orderly transport between pickups and program sites.

Responsibilities

• Travel routes and tasks are supervised by the Transportation Supervisor, with close monitoring to meet departmental needs.
• Transport internal customers including senior management and City Council members when required.
• Coordinate with program schedules (After-School, Special Needs, Teen Leadership, Prime Time Senior, Food Service, Camp Best Friends, Special Events) to support transportation needs.

General Description and Classification Standards:

This position is responsible for providing transportation services to youth, teens, and senior patrons who participate in programs offered by the Office of Recreation, Department of Parks & Recreation. This position is also required, on occasion, to transport internal customers who may include senior management, and City Council members; as well as visiting dignitaries, business executives, and state/federal officials. As the operator of a City vehicle, this position will make certain that patrons are transported - in a safe and orderly manner - from pick-up locations to designated programs and/or events. These programs include, but are not limited to:

• After-School Programming
• Special Needs Programming
• Teen Leadership Programming
• Prime Time Senior Programming
• Food Service Programming
• Specialty Programs (i.e., swim, golf, pickle ball)
• Camp Best Friends
• Special Events

Supervision Received:

Works under the direct supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, while executing routes and completing related duties. Travel routes, assigned tasks, and specific instructions are closely monitored by the Transportation Supervisor, to make certain that departmental needs and requests are met.
