Job summary

The City of Boulder is seeking a part-time Recreation Center front desk team member to deliver excellent customer service, process registrations, and manage cash handling at one of the city’s recreation facilities. You may serve as a substitute for shifts and help with rentals and general front desk duties.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and at least one year of customer service experience, plus First Aid/CPR within 90 days. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of customer service, receptionist and/or cash handling experience.
  • Current First Aid/AED and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (conversational).

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to patrons at recreation facilities.
  • Handles cash and balances cash drawer accurately.
  • Operates the registration system, including POS, reservations and program registrations.
  • Assists patrons with rentals for birthdays, meetings and events.
  • Opens and closes facilities and supports front desk staff as needed.
  • Reports issues and assists custodial staff as required.
  • Completes incident reports when necessary.

May serve in a substitute role for designated Recreation Member Service Representative III & IV shifts.Job Description:RECREATION CENTERSESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides excellent customer service to the patrons of the recreation facilities.Interacts with the Department of Parks and Recreation customers by greeting patrons, answering phones, providing information about services and programs, checking in patrons and checking out equipment.Communicates effectively with facility patrons in person and over the phone to market and promote Parks and Recreation Programs and services, which may include giving tours and preparing flyers.Operates the registration system, including Point of Sale, Membership/Pass Validation, Facility Reservation and Program Registration.Registers participants for activities and has a strong knowledge of all program areas.Maintains course waitlists in registration system.Assists patrons with rentals of the facility, including birthday parties, meetings and special events.Performs cash handling in accordance with the City and Department policies and internal controls and is able to accurately balance cash drawer and provide accurate change.Resolves customer concerns, incidents and program issues as they occur and as needed. Completes accident and incident reports as necessary.Reports facility issues and monitoring facility by periodic building walk-throughs.Opens and closes the facilities at which they work.Provides direction and assistance to other front desk employees.Provides general direction to custodial staff as needed on a daily basis.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAble to understand and trouble shoot accounting transactions in the registration system.Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse people in an organizational context.Ability interest, and desire to provide excellent customer service in person and on the telephone.Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.Knowledge of cash handling.Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience working for a public or private recreation facility.Experience with the Active registration system.Experience with Microsoft Office.Bilingual in English and Spanish (Conversational level in Spanish).SUPERVISIONSupervision Received: Recreation Member Service SupervisorSupervision Exercised: NoneREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or equivalent,One (1) year of customer service, receptionist and/or cash handling experience.Current First Aid/AED and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire.WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTSPhysical and Mental Effort: Primarily sedentary physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 10 pounds; occasional lifting and carrying; frequent walking and standing. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents and materials. Sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate computer equipment and other office equipment. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to work in an office setting. Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer video monitor and/ or operating a keyboard. Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions.Work Environment: Works primarily in a clean, comfortable, indoor environment. Works in a setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises. Schedule includes weekends and evenings.Machines and Equipment Used: Uses cash register, adding machine, camera, washer, and dryer.
