Job summary

Forest Home is hiring lifeguards to guard guests at pools and lake facilities, maintain safety and cleanliness, and provide Christ-centered customer service. Shifts are available year-round; starting pay is $14 per hour with CPR/First Aid training provided.

Qualifications include American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, and AED certifications, or willingness to obtain them; must be at least 16 years old and pursuing a diploma. Prior lifeguard experience is preferred.

  • Maintain fitness per American Red Cross standards.
  • Support and uphold Recreation safety plans and procedures.
  • Ensure equipment is inspected and maintained.
  • Provide excellent, Christ-like service to guests and fellow staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

To guard and protect the guests that use the Forest Home pools and lake facilities, maintain cleanliness and safety of all aquatics facilities, and provide excellent customer service in order to create a fun, welcoming Christ-centered environment.

Job Details

We are currently hiring and scheduling shifts for this role. No experience is needed and we start hiring at 16 years old. Forest Home will provide all training, including CPR training, and pay for all certification fees. Start dates and end dates are both flexible. Our recreation options are open year round. During summer, we have lifeguard shifts available from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Starting in October, we close our aquatic options, but lifeguards are able to work weekends in our other recreation areas. Starting pay is $14 an hour. Flexibility for school schedules as well as summer vacations. Once you apply, your application will be reviewed in 48 hours and we will email you with next steps.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform lifeguard duties in aquatics programs as assigned, which include a lake front and several swimming pools.
  • Obtain and maintain Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications.
  • Reach and maintain a level of physical fitness that meets or exceeds the American Red Cross standard for lifeguards (500 meter swim, 10 foot dive, swim with a brick, tread water for 3 minutes).
  • Support and uphold Recreation safety plans and procedures.
  • Ensure equipment is inspected and maintained.
  • Provide excellent, Christ-like service to guests and fellow staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience Required
  • Current American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, and AED certification, or be willing and physically able to become certified.
  • Working towards a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior lifeguard experience.
  • Preferred experience in a job or ministry that requires guest interaction and service with people of all ages.

  • Maintain regular, timely attendance.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands
  • Reach and maintain a level of physical fitness that meets or exceeds the American Red Cross standard for lifeguards (500 meter swim, 10 foot dive, swim with a brick, tread water for 3 minutes).
  • Be comfortable with spending extended periods of time in the sun and periodically entering cold bodies of water.
  • Require walking, swimming, and standing for 6‑8 hours a day.
  • Must be able to complete all in‑service trainings which will include physical exercise of varying degree.
  • Requires standing, walking, sitting; operation of office machines; mild physical work, lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 20 pounds; visual acuity; speaking and hearing sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud at times.
