Job summary

Forest Home Christian Camps in Kentucky is seeking lifeguards to guard guests at pools and lake facilities, provide safe, friendly service, and help create a Christ-centered environment. No experience is required; training including CPR is provided and certification fees are paid.

Shifts run in summer 9am–11pm; in fall lifeguards may work weekends in other recreation areas; must be 16 or older and committed to safety and guest care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Working toward High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/Lifeguard/AED certification, or willing to be certified.
• Prior lifeguard experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Guard and protect guests at pools and lake facilities.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of aquatics areas.
• Provide excellent customer service in a Christian environment.
• Perform lifeguard duties as assigned, including lakefront and pools.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications.

JOB SUMMARY

To guard and protect the guests that use the Forest Home pools and lake facilities. To maintain cleanliness and safety of all aquatics facilities and to provide excellent customer service in order to create a fun, welcoming Christ centered environment.

JOB DETAILS

No experience is needed and we start hiring at 16 years old. Forest Home will provide all training, including CPR training, as well as pay for all certification fees. Start Dates and End dates are both flexible. Our Recreation options are open year-round. During Summer, we have lifeguard shifts available from 9am to 11pm daily. Starting in October, we close our aquatic options, but lifeguards are able to work weekends in our other recreation areas. Flexibility for school schedules as well as summer vacations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform lifeguard duties in aquatics programs as assigned, which include a lake front and serveral swimming pools
• Obtains and maintains Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications
• Reaches and maintains a level of physical fitness that meets or exceeds the American Red Cross standard for lifeguards (500 meter swim, 10 foot dive and swim with brick, tread water for 3 minutes)
• Supports and upholds Recreation safety plans and procedures
• Assures equipment is inspected and maintained
• Provide excellent and Christ like service to guests and fellow staff
• Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Current American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, and AED certification, or be willing and psychically able to be certified
• Working towards High School diploma or equivalent
• Prior lifeguard experience preferred
• Preferred experience in job or ministry that requires guest interaction and service with people of all ages.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate office machines. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone.

• Reaches and maintains a level of physical fitness that meets or exceeds the American Red Cross standard for lifeguards (500 meter swim, 10 foot dive and swim with brick, tread water for 3 minutes)
• Must be comfortable with spending extended periods of time in the sun and periodically entering cold bodies of water.
• Requires walking, swimming, and standing for 6-8 hours a day
• Must be able to complete all in-service trainings which will include physical exercise of varying degree
