Job summary

Baltimore City Government is seeking a Recreation Leader II to assist the Recreation Center Director in coordinating, planning and supervising recreational and cultural programs at a recreation center or pool. This role requires a high school diploma or GED and three years of experience in leading recreation activities, with possible equivalencies.

The position includes evenings and weekend hours and a background check will be required.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
• AND
• Experience: Have three years of experience in leading recreation activities.
• OR
• Equivalency Notes: Six months of additional experience in leading recreational activities may be substituted for each year of the high school requirement. A bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education or a related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• A Recreation Leader II assists the Recreation Center Director in coordinating, planning, administrating, supervising and conducting recreational and cultural programs at a recreation center and/or pool.
• Incumbents receive supervision from a technical superior and work a conventional workweek including evenings and weekends.
• Work is performed in recreation centers and facilities where inclement weather may be encountered.
