Job summary

Atrium Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Recreation Leader for a temporary three-month assignment. You will engage residents through recreational programs designed to promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive well-being.

The role requires creativity, excellent communication, and the ability to work with a team, while supervising activities and ensuring safety and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of recreation, activities, or related experience (long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs.
  • Lead and encourage participation in group and individual activities, including games, arts and crafts, music, religious services, holiday celebrations, and special events.
  • Provide one-on-one visits, motivation, and reality orientation to residents as needed.
  • Observe, document, and report resident participation, behaviors, and progress.
  • Encourage resident and family involvement in activity planning and care goals.
  • Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary team members to enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Set up, supervise, and clean activity areas before and after programs.
  • Maintain recreation supplies, equipment, and activity materials.
  • Safely transport residents to and from activities within the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and all facility policies and procedures.
