Job summary

Women In Need, Inc. (Win) seeks a Recreation Coordinator to design and oversee educational and recreational activities for children and families in shelter programs, promoting learning, engagement, and well‑being.

Qualifications

• You will hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• You will have at least two (2) years of experience providing educational or recreational programming for children, plus one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• You will possess current CPR and First Aid Certification.
• You will have experience creating engaging activities that support child development, family engagement, and positive youth outcomes.
• You will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• You will be knowledgeable about Evidence-Based Practices (EBP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Trauma‑Informed Care (TIC).

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and oversee educational and recreational programs that support the growth and well‑being of children and families
• Build partnerships with schools, community organizations, and city agencies to expand access to educational and recreational opportunities
• Supervise, coach, and develop Recreation Associates while supporting staff performance and training initiatives
• Create activity schedules, promote parent engagement, and coordinate culturally responsive events and celebrations
• Ensure the safety of participating children by monitoring attendance, supervising activities, and maintaining program standards
• Manage recreation supplies, equipment, and inventory while ensuring activity spaces remain safe and well organized
• Collaborate with program staff, multidisciplinary teams, and community partners to address the needs of participating children and families
• Maintain accurate documentation, attendance records, reports, and program data while supporting continuous program improvement

THE ROLE
