DEFINITION:

This position provides administrative and programmatic support for the efficient operation of the Recreation Department and to enhance community engagement through quality recreational offerings. Under the guidance of the Recreation Director/Assistant Director, assists in the design, supervision, and implementation of programs to assist with the smooth operation of the year-round recreational activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Beneficial:
  • Bachelor’s degree in park and recreation/physical education/public administration/marketing preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of wading pool and Splash Pads operations.
  • Must be able to work evenings or weekends as needed. From June through September, the work schedule will include weekend shifts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreational management and/or athletic program protocol; materials, methods, safety precautions and techniques related to recreational maintenance operations; coaching and officiating techniques and practices; Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point, email, website design/maintenance and social media.
  • Ability to deal diplomatically with general public, parents, and coaches; supervise youth and non-professional peers and subordinates; produce customer participation through instruction and demonstration of recreational activities.
  • Practical knowledge of customer service best practices and general computer applications. Knowledge of basic accounting practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in groups with other employees and with the general public; communicate effectively in written and oral form; be organized and pay attention to details; operate standard office equipment and computer software and database administration.
