Job summary

The City of Beloit is seeking a Recreation Coordinator in the Parks and Recreation Division of the Department of Public Works. You will develop, organize, plan and implement recreation and athletic programs and assist in managing facilities including the Ice Arena, Municipal Pool, Rotary River Center, and Riverside Park Lagoon concessions.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or related field, have at least two years in the field, and may have

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• Associate’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or related field.
• Minimum of two years' experience in Parks and Recreation.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Certified in First Aid and CPR or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Certification in FEMA IS-100 and FEMA IS-700 or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Other combinations of training/experience that demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Develop, organize, plan and implement assigned recreation and athletic programs.
• Assist Recreation Supervisor in managing recreational facilities and related operations.
• Support facilities such as the Ice Arena, Municipal Pool, Rotary River Center and Riverside Park Lagoon concessions.

Job description

The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity in the Parks and Recreation Division of the Department of Public Works as the Recreation Coordinator. The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, planning, and implementing assigned recreation and athletic programs. Additionally, assisting the Recreation Supervisor in the overall management of recreational facilities that support these programs, including but not limited to the Ice Arena, Municipal Pool, Rotary River Center, and Concession Operations at the Riverside Park Lagoon. The duties described above are indicative of what a Recreation Coordinator might be asked to perform. Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
2. Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation Administration or a related field.
3. A minimum of two (2) years' experience in the field of Parks and Recreation.
4. One (1) year of progressively responsible supervisory experience is preferred.
5. Certified in First Aid and CPR or ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of hire.
6. Certification in FEMA IS-100 and FEMA IS-700 or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
7. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
