Job summary

The Town of Parker is seeking a patron services team member to support programs and facilities under supervision. You will perform front-line duties, assist with events and daily maintenance, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for patrons.

Responsibilities include monitoring areas, completing required forms, and responding to emergencies. Flexibility for weekends/evenings is needed; background screenings may be conducted.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least sixteen years old.
  • Experience in general cleaning or facility maintenance preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety and cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line patron services across Events, Recreation Center, and Discovery Park.
  • Maintain order and safety in the assigned area and monitor participants.
  • Perform maintenance tasks and report safety concerns.
  • Complete required documentation and incident reports as needed.
  • Assist with opening/closing and inventory procedures.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist in evacuation when required.
  • Follow town policies and assist with setup/teardown for events.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Job description

Under general supervision, this position provides patron services within assigned program or facility areas.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties
  • Performs front-line, day-to-day services in any combination of the following divisions: Events, Recreation Center/Fieldhouse, Discovery Park.
  • Maintains order and overall control in assigned program area; monitor participants within program area.
  • Monitors and maintains the overall appearance and functionality of facilities, venues, and program areas to provide safe conditions for patrons and staff; performs maintenance tasks, remedies safety concerns, and communicates any issues to a supervisor.
  • Ensures all required documentation is completed.
  • Assists with opening, closing, and inventory procedures as needed.
  • Responds to emergency situations and assists in the evacuation of program area. Accurately completes incident reports as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with Town and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Reports suspected abuse cases to supervisor and the appropriate governing bodies.
  • Assists in setting up and tearing down tables, chairs, A/V equipment, sports, or recreation equipment for events, programs, and rentals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Examples of Essential Duties for the Events
  • Discusses activities and event schedules with patrons; oversees some event logistics.
  • Facilitates games and activities.
Examples of Essential Duties for the Recreation Center
  • Assists in the daily maintenance of fitness equipment to ensure proper working order.
Examples of Essential Duties for Discovery Park
  • Monitors patrons while ice skating on the trail.
Requirements

Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

Experience performing general cleaning and facility maintenance tasks is preferred.

  • Knowledge of relevant town, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of recreation principles and practices, including best practices, program instruction and customer relations techniques.
  • Knowledge of recreation center equipment and facilities.
  • Skill in the provision of customer service.
  • Skill in managing multiple tasks, conflicting priorities, and working under deadlines, even in stressful situations.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication, including issuing and following clear instructions.
  • Skill in basic housekeeping tasks and in the use of general cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Skill in operating computers, modern office equipment, and small/light tools.
  • Skill and ability to safely ice skate for extended periods (Discovery Park Ice Trail only).
  • Ability to facilitate group activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, supervisors, Town officials, community organizers, the public, and contractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work independently, analyze situations carefully, and adopt effective courses of action.
  • Ability and willingness to learn, implement, and adapt to Departmental/Divisional policies and evolving procedures.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and various shifts.

Tools & Equipment

Requires frequent use of general cleaning equipment and supplies as well as small hand tools.

Physical Demands

Requires regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, handling, feeling or operating objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Requires occasional reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing. Requires moderate physical activity with heavy lifting, up to fifty (50) pounds. Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus, allowing a broad field of vision.

Environment

Work is frequently performed in a climate-controlled office environment, but employees holding this position may be exposed to extreme cold or heat and wetness/humidity. The noise level is usually high and may range from moderate to extreme. The employee may occasionally work with or around hazardous items or hazardous conditions such as mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, chemicals, or radiant energy.

In order to ensure the safety of the public and reduce the risk for loss, background screenings are completed on applicants selected for employment, internship opportunities and safety sensitive volunteer positions. All positions are subject to a basic screening process including but not limited to criminal history search, reference check, degree and employment verification. In addition to the basic screening process, other screenings may include but are not limited to: Drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, credit report and/or physical examination.

Hiring Range: $16.00-17.48 hourly
