Fairmont Orchid on Hawai‘i Island invites a winter internship for Recreation Attendant II to deliver warm, authentic hospitality to beach and pool guests while learning best practices in a luxury resort.

You will assist guests with towels, lounge setup, equipment and safety, while maintaining pristine beach and pool areas and providing memorable experiences that reflect the aloha spirit.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering warm, personalized service to guests.
• Ability to share Hawaiian culture, stories and lifestyle with guests in an engaging manner.
• Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English.
• Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
• Valid Driver’s License and willingness to obtain necessary certifications.

Responsabilités

• Interact with guests to assist with towels, chaise lounge setup, cabana setup, and equipment use.
• Remove used towels and debris from beach/pool areas.
• Provide luxury, personalized service to guests and upsell recreation offerings.
• Maintain knowledge of wellness services, activities and hotel amenities.
• Follow safety procedures and contribute to opening/closing beach and pool operations.
• Support hotel teamwork and maintain professional appearance.

Job Description

During a 3 - 5 week paid Winter internship, as a Recreation Attendant II you are responsible to provide warm, engaging and authentically local personalized service to all guests who utilize the facilities at the Beach and Pool.

What you will be doing:

• Actively engage with guests and assist in all guests’ needs, which may include, but are not limited to: issuing towels, issuing chaise lounge covers, assist in chaise lounge set-up, cabana set-up , distributing snorkel gear, surfboards, boogie board, floatation devices, kayaks, and provide instruction for proper usage of equipment.
• Pick up and remove used towels and debris from the beach and pool deck areas throughout the day.
• Provide unique experiences to all of our guests through warm, personal & detailed service in a luxury, upscale and fast paced environment.
• Ensure a positive first impression of the beach & pool for our guests through detailed cleanliness, set-up and ambiance control.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all wellness & recreation services, activities, amenities and hotel services/features
• Up-sell and promote wellness & recreation offers at every available opportunity in order to maximize sales revenue.
• Perform opening/closing side duties as assigned and set the beach & pool according to standards and procedures
• Be well versed in hotel fire & life safety/emergency procedures
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Management of the Hotel

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

• Ability to share Hawaiian culture, stories and lifestyle with guests in an engaging manner
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language
• Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage (‘Olelo Hawai’i)
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team
• Detailed & service oriented with an eye for detail to be self‑motivated and energetic.
• Provide the necessary State and Federal Requirements to work in Recreation (Tuberculosis Clearance)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Additional certification(s) in Recreation will be an advantage (Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED)

Additional Information

Hourly Rate:$23.86 USD

Visa Requirements: Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
