Job summary

This position is located at the Birch Hill Ski & Snowboard Area on Fort Wainwright, AK. The incumbent will patrol the ski hill, operate a snowmobile skillfully and perform mountain rescue and transport of patrons and equipment on the most difficult terrain.

Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability is highly preferred to execute rescues and transports on challenging slopes.

Qualifications

• Be able to skillfully operate a snowmobile to perform required patrols of the ski hill and to perform a mountain rescue and/or transport patrons and equipment on the most difficult terrain.
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
• Candidates with the ability to ski/snowboard at an advanced level to perform a mountain rescue and transport on the most difficult terrain are highly preferred.

Incentives and Bonuses Incentives may be paid.

A retention incentive up to $2,000 may be authorized for satisfactory completion of a full six (6) months of work (a service agreement is required).

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

• Be able to skillfully operate a snowmobile to perform required patrols of the ski hill and to perform a mountain rescue and/or transport patrons and equipment on the most difficult terrain.
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
• In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified" and referred to the selecting official first.
• Candidates who possess the ability to ski/snowboard at an advanced level to perform a mountain rescue and transport on the most difficult terrain.
