Job summary

Army NAF on Oahu seeks a vigilant lifeguard to supervise guards, manage pool safety, and assist with scheduling and training. You will monitor water quality, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies at the aquatic facility.

Reliable certification and ability to obtain required authorizations within two weeks are essential; travel not required; duties include record-keeping and guest safety briefings.

Qualifications

• Must possess American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
• Must possess or obtain CPR-Pro certification.
• AED certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with pool operation and supervise lifeguards.
• Monitor facility policies and safety compliance.
• Assist with employee scheduling.
• Maintain pool area and water balance, test water.
• Provide safety guidance to guests and enforce rules.
• Rescue swimmers and administer first aid when needed.
• Support training in aquatic survival per ATP 7-22.01.
• Keep daily logs and records.

Duties

Assist with the operation of the pool, oversees the work of assigned lifeguards & monitors compliance with facility policies. Assists with scheduling of employees. Assists with the operation of the pool, its filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water tests. Under direction of the pool supervisor, employ safety rules for the protection of the guest. Responsible for life guarding guest in attendance at the assigned aquatic facility. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020. Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Ensures maintaining pool and area is clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follow facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions. Assist in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required. Issues towels and checks identification as required. Maintains daily logs and records as required.

• American Red Cross \"Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer\" (CPR-Pro) certification or nationally recognized equivalent (i.e. Ellis & Associates (CPR) Certification). When facilities use Automated External Defibrillator \"AED's\" and Oxygen Administration \"O2 bottles\" the following is required


• American Red Cross \"Automated External Defibrillator\" (AED) certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates AED certification.


• Must possess or have the ability to obtain an American Red Cross \"Oxygen Administration\" certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates Oxygen Administration certification within two weeks of employment.

• This job is open to candidates who live in this commuting area (the Island of Oahu). If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered. If you reside outside of the local commuting area, relocation costs will be at your expense.

Allowances and Differentials:

• This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
