Job summary

Navy Region Hawaii at Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam, Honolulu, HI, seeks personnel to support the Information, Tickets, and Travel (ITT) program. Position focuses on customer service to patrons and ticket sales, with duties across a range of Recreation activities.

The ideal candidate will have related education or two years of recreation experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to plan events, operate independently, and handle records and reports for dissemination to customers.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge from related education or training in recreation, marketing or related field and/or two years of recreation work experience.
• Ability to organize, plan and administer events and entertainment activities.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Knowledge of leisure time activities and Navy MWR mission advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patrons and process ticket sales for ITT programs.
• Perform a variety of duties in support of the Information, Tickets, and Travel program on JBPHH.
• Maintain records and assist with data for reports related to recreation topics.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

Job description

This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Programs (N922) Branch; Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Fleet and Family Readiness Support Services (N94); Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH), Honolulu, HI - ITT Facilities. The purpose of this position is to provide customer service to patrons, sales of tickets, and perform a variety of duties in support of the Information, Tickets, and Travel program.

A qualified candidate must possess:

• Knowledge gained through relevant education and training (i.e., Associates Degree in Recreation, Marketing or closely related field) and/or two years equivalent recreation work experience.
• Combination of experience related to customer service and or recreation activity-based functions.
• Ability to organize, plan, administer special events and entertainment activities.
• Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning and conducting leisure time activities.
• Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and the entire scope of Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests.
• Knowledge is required of the functions, procedures, and operations of recreation activities.
• Incumbent is C.A.R.E (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively) trained, holds an Emergency First Responder (EFR) or CPR First Aid certification, and holds a current Food Handler certification, or be able to obtain these trainings/certifications within 90 days of employment.
• Must have strong customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports, and perform research on recreation topics for dissemination to customers.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production.
• Employee is required to have a valid state drivers' license. Able to obtain license validation to transport patrons off-base within 90 days of employment.

Work may require considerable physical exertion while instructing or guiding participants in a variety of activities.

Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderate heavy items up to 40 pounds, occasionally required to lift heavier items.

Work may require lifting items such as papers, books, rental equipment, and athletic equipment.

Work may require working outside for special events or leading outdoor outings or group trips.

Position may require irregular working hours. Incumbent may be required to work evenings and weekends.

Work performed both indoors and outdoors, without a fixed schedule. Administrative work performed in an office setting, which has adequate lighting, heating and ventilation.

Incumbent may be required to work early, late, and on weekends and holidays when the need arises. Incumbent is subject to recall regularly. Incumbent wears protective clothing and equipment as situations warrant.
