Job summary

NeighborHealth's PACE Winthrop program seeks an onsite Recreation Assistant to support the Recreation Therapist and lead activities for older adults. You will help plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation aligned with individualized care plans and work with the IDT to improve participant engagement and rights.

Required: High School Diploma or GED, plus HHA/CNA or National Activities certification, and at least 2 years of elder-care experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• HHA, CNA, or National Activities professional certification.
• Two years’ experience working with elders or frail populations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience and confidence in leading small and large groups.
• Ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.
• Flexibility, reliability, initiative and organizational skills.
• Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Recreation Therapist with facilitation of PACE Center based Participant Council meetings to support participant rights, engagement and feedback.
• Contribute to planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of therapeutic recreation programming aligned with individualized care plans and IDT goals.
• Provide guidance and support to Personal Care Assistants to ensure safe, appropriate and compliant participant involvement in activities.
