What you’ll be doingThis position assists with preparing event spaces, setting up and tearing down equipment, supporting event operations, and providing information and assistance to the public. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced, community-focused environment and is comfortable working outdoors and during evenings, weekends, and holidays as event schedules require.
You will be responsible for…
- Assist with the setup and tear-down of special events, including tables, chairs, tents, generators, recreational equipment, and other event materials.
- Transport event equipment, supplies, and materials using City vehicles and trailers, as assigned.
- Maintain and organize Special Event equipment and storage areas.
- Conduct event site visits and assist with monitoring events to help ensure activities are operating safely and efficiently.
- Provide information, directions, and assistance to event attendees, facility patrons, community members, and the general public.
- Assist with organizing and conducting recreation and special event activities.
- Inspect recreational and event equipment to ensure it is in proper working order and meets safety standards.
- Follow established safety procedures, City policies, and event guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation, including attendance, time records, incident reports, and other event-related information.
- Communicate effectively with City staff, event participants, community partners, vendors, volunteers, and the public.
- Assist with general housekeeping and maintaining clean, organized, and safe event areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What skills & experience you’ll bring to us
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 6 months of experience related to recreation, special events, customer service, or a similar environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift and move event materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and maintain positive working relationships.
- Valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by the hire date.
