Job summary

MARATHON STAFFING GROUP in Mesa seeks a part-time custodial worker to maintain theaters, backstage areas, offices, galleries, classrooms, and restrooms, supporting performing arts venues and events.

The role involves cleaning, operating common cleaning equipment, stocking inventories, laundering linens, and coordinating with staff and clients. Assignment spans 6–7 months with weekday and weekend shifts in Downtown Mesa.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to understand, interpret, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• 3+ years work experience interacting with people in a positive environment.
• Flexible with late hours and weekend shifts.
• Experience in manual labor in theater/events preferred.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain theaters, backstage spaces, offices, galleries, classrooms, restrooms, and outdoor areas.
• Work with cleaning fluids and chemicals using routine protective equipment.
• Operate equipment like carpet cleaners, floor scrubbers, leaf blowers, and golf carts.
• Maintain equipment and supply inventories.
• Launder linens as part of housekeeping duties.
• Communicate with clients, patrons, and staff about needs and events.
• Interpret written instructions for event requirements.
• Set up and tear down equipment for non-performance events (tables, chairs, barricades, cables, PA systems).
• Provide operational assistance during events such as festivals and weddings.

What you’ll be doing

This assignment provides custodial maintenance for performing arts and culture facilities (theater, backstage, offices, etc.) as well as operational assistance for non-performance events.

You will be responsible for…

• Cleaning and maintenance of theaters, backstage spaces, offices, galleries, classrooms, restrooms, and outdoor areas.
• Working with cleaning fluids and chemicals using normal, routine, protective equipment.
• Using machinery such as carpet cleaners, floor scrubbers, leaf blowers, and golf carts.
• Maintaining equipment and supply inventories.
• Laundering linens.
• Verbally communicating with clients, patrons and staff regarding event and maintenance needs.
• Interpreting written instructions for event needs.
• Setting up and tearing down equipment such as tables, chairs, barricades, power cables, and basic PA systems for non-performance related events.
• Providing operational assistance during special events such as festivals, weddings, food functions, etc.

• Must have reliable transportation at all times
