Job summary

Westchester Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing in Mount Vernon, NY is seeking a compassionate Recreation Assistant to enhance our patients' physical, emotional, and social well-being through engaging activities and outings.

You will collaborate with nursing staff, help with daily living tasks when needed, assist with mealtimes, and maintain a safe, welcoming recreation space while building positive relationships with residents and families.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare or social services setting preferred.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and implementing recreational activities, social events, and outings for patients and residents.
• Coordinate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with individual patient needs and goals.
• Provide support with daily living tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as needed.
• Assist with mealtime, including setting tables, serving patients, and cleaning up.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment, including the recreation room and common areas.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and staff.
