Delano Public Schools – Community Education seeks a Recreation and TAC Specialist to plan and support community education programs, manage Tiger Activity Center operations, and provide evening building supervision with a focus on customer service.

The role supports coaches, instructors, families, and user groups, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., 240 work days per year, and a starting wage of $21.44–$22.97 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience in recreation, sports management, community education or related field.
  • Experience providing customer service leadership to part-time staff or volunteers.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and coordinating youth and adult recreation programs, schedules, facilities, equipment, staff, and participant communication.
  • Support day-to-day program operations and serve as a resource for coaches, instructors, officials, participants, and families.
  • Assist with recruiting, scheduling, and supporting part-time staff, coaches, officials, instructors, and volunteers.
  • Use registration, scheduling, and communication systems to support programs and maintain records.
  • Oversee day-to-day Tiger Activity Center operations, ensuring a safe, welcoming, customer-focused environment.
  • Support TAC staff by communicating expectations and assisting with coverage.
  • Serve as an evening building supervisor.

Recreation and TAC Specialist: Delano Community Education
Delano Public Schools – Community Education

Under the direction of the Recreation and Facilities Coordinator, Delano Community Education is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Recreation and TAC Specialist. This position plays an important role in planning and supporting many community education programs, supporting the Tiger Activity Center's day-to-day operations, and providing evening building supervision and customer service on behalf of Delano Community Education programs and user groups.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 11:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Work Year: 240 days per year

Reports To: Recreation and Facilities Coordinator

Starting Wage: $ 21.44-22.97/hr (DOQ)

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist with planning and coordinating youth and adult recreation programs, including schedules, teams, facilities, equipment, staff, and participant communication.
  • Support day-to-day program operations and serve as a resource for coaches, instructors, officials, participants, and families.
  • Assist with recruiting, scheduling, and supporting part-time staff, coaches, officials, instructors, and volunteers.
  • Use registration, scheduling, and communication systems to support recreation programs and maintain accurate records.
  • Oversee day-to-day Tiger Activity Center operations, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and customer-focused environment.

Required Qualifications:
  • Preferred Bachelor's or Associate's degree; will consider a high school diploma depending on qualifications and experience
  • Education or experience in recreation, sports management, community education, fitness, youth development, facility operations, or a related field.
  • Experience working in recreation, athletics, fitness, community programming, or facility operations.
  • Experience providing customer service leadership or direction to part-time staff, coaches, instructors, or volunteers.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification upon employment.
