Job summary

Brevard County's Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to assist with games, events and arts and crafts at the South Area/Viera Regional Community Center.

You will work up to 20 hours weekly, with evenings, weekends and holidays required. Some experience with leisure activities or working with children and basic computer skills; Rec-Trac familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

• Some experience, paid or volunteer, in leisure activities or working with children.
• Experience working with computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite and Vermont Systems Rec-Trac is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs entry-level paraprofessional work conducting games, special events, arts and crafts, and other group activities at a County recreation area.

Salary

$16.13 to $17.74 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Viera Regional Community Center. Part-time/up to 20 hours per week. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs entry-level paraprofessional work conducting games, special events, arts and crafts, and other group activities at a County recreation area.

Requirements

Special Requirements

Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. The applicant will be disqualified from further consideration for the position if a Level I background criminal background investigation, performed in accordance with Brevard County Administrative Order 5 (AO-5), discloses the applicant has disqualifying convictions (AO-5). In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man‑made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
