Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Joliet Job Corps Center in Joliet, IL, recruiting staff to deliver program services and ensure high-quality recreational activities for students.

The role focuses on planning, coordinating and supervising a diverse range of recreation and avocation programs, while maintaining safety, record-keeping, and strong customer service for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year experience preferred.
• Computer proficiency required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor in planning, implementing and coordinating a comprehensive recreation program.
• Organize and supervise student participation in recreation/avocation activities and extended day learning.
• Conduct recreation and avocation classes and activities.
• Chaperone students to center recreation functions.
• Assist in developing new enrollee recreation activities and plans.
• Conduct intergroup recreation activities as part of the diversity program.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment by performing daily cleaning duties.
• Distribute mail daily to students.
• Provide positive, quality customer service to students, staff and center customers.
• Participate in student employability programs and activities.
• Support and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Promote Career Success Standards by mentoring students and monitoring behaviors.
• Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.

What you will be doing:

Responsible for monitoring and directing students engaged in center- sponsored recreational activities on and off-center, in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:

• Assist the supervisor, recreation in planning, implementing and coordinating a comprehensive and diversified program which will attract voluntary participation
• Organize and supervise student participation in a variety of recreation/avocation activities and extended day learning activities
• Conduct recreation and avocation classes and activities
• Chaperone students to center recreation functions
• Assist in the development of the new enrollee recreation activities and plans.
• Conduct intergroup recreation activities as part of the diversity program
• Maintain a safe and clean environment by conducting daily cleaning duties
• Distribute mail daily to students
• Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers
• Participate in student employability programs and activities
• Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy
• Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
• Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required and one year experience preferred
• Computer proficiency required
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
