Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Recreation Aide to join our team at Apex Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Huntington Station, New York. As a Recreation Aide, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by creating engaging and enjoyable recreational activities. If you are passionate about working with seniors and have excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead recreational activities, such as arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and social events, tailored to the interests and abilities of our residents
• Develop and implement recreational programs and events that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being
• Assist with planning and execution of special events, such as birthday celebrations, holiday parties, and themed activities
• Provide support with daily living tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as needed
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for all activities and events
• Collaborate with other care staff to ensure seamless communication and coordination
• Focus on resident-centered care and priorities, aligning with our company's mission of "Care Above All Else"

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2 years of experience in a healthcare or recreational setting preferred
• Ability to work effectively with seniors and individuals with varying abilities

Work Environment

• Part-time position with flexible scheduling 3 days per week 8am-4pm w/alternating weekends.
