Job summary

City of Cocoa Beach is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to support golf range operations and course maintenance. You will handle ball collection, equipment cleaning, and cart upkeep while ensuring golfers follow course rules.

The role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, standing for long periods, and assisting with event setup. A Florida driver’s license is required, and weekend/holiday shifts are included.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Florida driver's license (special requirement).

• Physical ability to perform light to medium tasks and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate golf range equipment and maintain balls and related gear.
• Assist with golf carts, upkeep, and cart staging areas.
• Greet golfers and monitor course rules and safety policies.
• Assist with events setup/teardown and course cleanliness.
• Answer phones and help with tee-time flow as needed.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOBPart Time position with weekends/holidays required.RECREATION AIDE RESPONSIBLITIESRecreation Aid works with golf range and operates equipment such as range ball picker. Organizes, cleans and maintains golf balls and associated equipment. Cleans driving mats. Fills Divots on driving range.Recreation Aid works with golf course carts and operates golf carts as needed. Maintaining golf carts such as cleaning, washing, parking, sweeping out carts and maintaining cart staging areas. Maintain record of broken carts needing repair.Meets and greets golfers. Monitors golfers to ensure appropriate rules and policies are followed by all employees and golfers. Addresses any problems found on the course.May be required to operate tee time computer to assist with starting players on the various courses to maintain flow of the course.Answer phone when needed.Maintains water coolers on the golf course.Empty garbage as needed.Assists with set-up and tear down of special events as needed.Assists other pro shop or golf course employees as needed.ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONSPerforms other related work as required.Assists in setting up equipment, furniture, etc., for various events; assists in clean-up tasks after events.Assist with cleanliness and maintenance of golf course.Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.Must be able to work on feet for length of shift.MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTPossession of a valid Florida driver's license, and/or reliable transportation to work.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPhysical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, typewriters, copiers, calculators, etc. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Physical demand requirements are for Light to Medium Work.
