Job summary

Candidates for a Regular full-time lifeguard position at Army NAF will be tasked with protecting pool guests and ensuring safety in the aquatics facility. You will monitor the pool area, respond to emergencies, and administer first aid as needed, while maintaining compliance with safety procedures and customer service standards.

You may participate in aquatics and safety training as directed, and must meet certification requirements including lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR/AED.

Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain lifeguarding and first aid certifications.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination within a 24-hour period if exposure occurs.
  • Must pass pre-employment checks including background verification.
  • Work hours may include weekends, nights, holidays and irregular duties.

Requirements
Conditions of employment
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
  • Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
  • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Lifeguards must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
  • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Fifteen (15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006).
  • In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • All required certifications must be kept current.
Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Possesses and maintains the following certifications (A copy of each certification must be submitted at the time of application):
    • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis.)
    • American Red Cross Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional.
    • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).
    • First Aid.

  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
