Job summary

The Air Force Global Strike Command is seeking a Recreation Aid (Lifeguard) assigned to Outdoor Recreation at Minot AFB, ND. This FLEX (Intermittent) position does not have guaranteed hours and may work 0-40 hours per week as needed by the facility.

Employees may use on-base facilities including the swimming pool. Responsibilities include supervising the swimming area for patron safety, performing rescues and first aid, and coordinating pool maintenance and related tasks.

Qualifications

Foreign education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
It is your responsibility to provide evidence that the foreign education credentials are deemed equivalent to a conventional U.S. education program.

Responsibilities

Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.
Rescues swimmers in trouble, administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance when needed.
Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions and recommends closing swimming areas as needed.
When at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to meet pool standards.
Ensures diving boards are inspected for cracks or loose matting and that repairs are made.
Performs cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas and sunbathing areas as assigned.

About the position: This position will be a Recreation Aid (Lifeguard) assigned to Outdoor Recreation at Minot AFB, ND. This is a FLEXIBLE (FLEX) position. A Flex (Intermittent) schedule does not have guaranteed hours, and you may work 0-40 hours per week as needed by the facility. Employees are eligible to use the fitness center, golf course, bowling center, clubs, and swimming pool.

Key Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities: Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.

Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.

May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements & Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
