Pay Range

This range is provided by United States Air Force Academy. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $17.00/yr - $17.63/yr

Responsibilities

1. Continuously observe the swimming area to ensure patron safety.
2. Open the swimming area at scheduled times and restrict access to authorized persons only.
3. Rescue swimmers in trouble, administer first aid, and call for medical assistance when needed.
4. Warn swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions and recommend closing swimming areas until conditions are safe.
5. Operate water pumps and control chemical additives at pools to meet standards.
6. Inspect diving boards regularly for cracks or loose mats and perform necessary repairs.
7. Perform incidental duties such as cleaning bath houses, pools, decks, and sunbathing areas.
8. Perform other related duties as assigned for the operation of the swimming area.

Requirements

• Complete a background investigation with favorable results.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Complete a pre-employment physical.
• Work an uncommon tour of duty.

Qualifications

Open to everyone. Applicants must provide proof of eligibility by the closing date: 11/21/2025. Experience must include a current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving, water rescue, basic first aid, and CPR. Coastal lifeguards need additional surf rescue training. Experience in swimming activities, rules, and equipment is desirable. Background checks are required.
