Job summary

The Ozark Center is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to provide supportive rehabilitation and recovery services to individuals with behavioral health challenges. You will use lived experience to guide clients in managing mental illness and substance use recovery, promoting independence and advocacy with care teams.

You will accompany clients to appointments, teach stress reduction, assist in accessing housing, food, and services, and help develop Wellness and Recovery Plans under Crisis

Qualifications

• Must have lived experience and have received mental health services in the recent past.
• Demonstrated ability to provide emotional support and coaching to clients.
• Ability to advocate and collaborate with doctors, therapists and service providers.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing emotional support and guide clients in managing mental health issues.
• Train, coach and support individuals in learning social and daily living skills.
• Accompany clients to appointments to provide support and advocacy.
• Develop Wellness and Recovery Plans with clients and teach illness management skills.
• Assist in accessing public services including housing, food, shelter and clothing resources.
