Job summary

RiseWell Community Services is seeking a Part-time Recreation Peer Counselor to join the Residential Department. This 20-hour-per-week role supports recovery and daily living in a licensed residential program in Brentwood, NY.

You will serve as a positive role model, provide informal counseling, peer support, and ADL training to help participants build independence and skills for recovery within a supportive residential setting.

Qualifications

• Personal or shared experience with mental illness and/or substance abuse.
• Ability and desire to assist others in mastery of independent living skills.
• Understanding of peer support and self-help philosophy.
• Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License.
• Fingerprinting, criminal record check, approval from NYS Office of Mental Health.

Responsibilities

• Provide a positive role model of community functioning.
