Job summary

RiseWell Community Services seeks a Part-Time Supportive Peer Counselor to join its SSSH Supportive Scattered Site Housing team. The role provides peer support, counseling, and ADL training in a licensed transitional housing program for people with psychiatric disabilities.

The ideal candidate has personal or shared experience with mental illness or substance use, a valid NY driver's license, and a commitment to recovery-oriented care.

Qualifications

• Personal or shared experience with mental illness and/or substance abuse.
• Ability to assist others in mastering independent living skills and the personal recovery process.
• Understanding of peer support and self-help philosophy.
• Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License; fingerprinting and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide positive role modeling, informal counseling, peer support, and ADL training in a licensed residential program providing transitional housing to people with psychiatric disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Personal or shared experience with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. Ability and desire to assist others in mastery of independent living skills and the personal recovery process . Understanding of peer support, self-help philosophy. Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License. Fingerprinting, criminal record check, approval from NYS Office of Mental Health.
