Job summary

City eWaste is seeking a hands-on warehouse associate in Franklin, TN to break down pallets, sort electronics, and identify items with resale value. You’ll work with the Tech Desk and listers to maximize recovery and minimize waste.

You’ll handle batteries per procedures, keep areas organized, and follow safety guidelines on every shift. Prior experience in warehouse, scrap, or recycling helps.

Qualifications

• Curiosity about tech and a good eye for the one working monitor in a pallet of dead ones.
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn value signals fast.
• Comfort working with hand tools and electronics.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and stay on your feet all shift.
• Warehouse, scrap, recycling or repair experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Break down incoming pallets and gaylords and sort electronics by category and condition.
• Spot resale value and route items to the Tech Desk for testing or to listers.
• Break down units to recover parts and valuable components.
• Stage clean commodity streams for recycling partners without mixing high-value bins.
• Handle batteries by the book, every time.
• Keep bins, gaylords and staging areas organized and labeled.
• Flag high-value or unusual items for review.
• Follow safety and handling procedures on every shift.

Our Purpose is Repurpose.

Every pallet that rolls off our truck is a mixed bag. A working laptop next to a dead printer next to a box of cables nobody's touched since 2009. Somebody has to look at that pile & see what it's actually worth. That somebody is you.

We call it urban mining. The copper, gold, working boards & whole machines in that pallet are worth more than anything you'd dig out of the ground, & they're already here. What you catch gets a second life. What you miss gets shredded. You're the first set of eyes on everything we save, & you're the reason the Tech Desk has something to fix & the listers have something to sell.

What you'll do

• Break down incoming pallets & gaylords and sort electronics by category & condition
• Spot what has resale value & route it to the Tech Desk for testing or straight to our listers
• Break down units to recover parts & valuable components
• Stage clean commodity streams (boards, wire, aluminum & more) for our recycling partners, without mixing anything into the high-value bins
• Handle batteries by the book, every time
• Keep bins, gaylords & staging areas organized & labeled
• Flag high-value or unusual items for review
• Follow safety & handling procedures on every shift

Some days it's a truckload of office desktops. Some days it's a county's worth of old TVs.
