Job summary

Thrive Behavioral Health, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Peer Specialist for the AGOP Adult Substance Program in Warwick, RI.

This full-time, non-exempt role provides direct mental health services, mentors clients in recovery, and guides self-help activities within emergency, inpatient, and community settings. You will educate clients on coping strategies, help clarify rehabilitation goals, and support building social supports while promoting Thrive’s person-centered care approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 12 months of paid/voluntary work in the last 3 years or 24 credit hours of post-secondary education.
• Certification as a Peer Specialist by RI Certification Board is required.

Responsibilities

• Act as a role model for recovery and share personal experience to inspire clients.
• Provide recovery education and supports, including coping skills and relapse prevention.
• Assist in orientation for new clients and connect them to services.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed care.
• Link clients to community resources and peer supports for housing, training, and wellness.
