Job summary

Comprehensive Healthcare is seeking a Peer Support Counselor in Walla Walla, WA for 20 hours weekly. The role emphasizes using lived recovery experience to support clients, encourage engagement, and help with daily living activities and community access.

The position requires a recent recovery, a high school diploma or GED, and readiness to travel. Eligibility for counselor registration, a valid driver's license, and a pre-employment background check are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must be a self-identified consumer of mental health or substance use services and stable in recovery for at least one year.
• Must be eligible for registration as Agency Affiliated Counselor.
• Must have valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance.
• Post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check required by state/federal law.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with attending appointments, applying for social services benefits, finding and maintaining housing, and other activities of daily living.
• Collaborate with each client to develop and implement individualized treatment plans and recovery action plans.
• Share personal experiences of recovery to motivate and support clients in treatment.
• Partner with clients to advocate for their needs during treatment.
• Model engagement strategies to build social supports and navigate community resources.
• Assess client safety and risk and take appropriate crisis intervention as needed.
