Job summary

Columbia Wellness in Longview, WA is seeking a Peer Support Counselor for the Wellness and Recovery Center. You will provide peer support, advocate for clients, and share recovery-focused information under supervision of the Program Director.

The role involves coordinating care with the MHP, leading groups when capable, assisting with admissions/discharges, and ensuring comprehensive documentation. Join a team committed to quality mental health services.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification Peer Counselor must be maintained.
• Registration in Washington State is required (upon hire).
• Must have a valid Oregon or Washington driver's license and must clear a multi-state background check.
• Agency Affiliated Registration in Washington State is required, licensure preferred.
• State of Washington mental health specialty in child, disability, and/or older adult populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic interventions to individuals according to the individual service plan and communicate with the MHP as required.
• Work with the team to report progress toward treatment goals.
• Assist in 24-hour program coverage and provide flexibility for shifts when needed.
• Link individuals to community resources and supports (education, vocational, social, spiritual, recreational).
• Coordinate with primary and specialty care providers to support physical well-being.
• Model coping strategies and assist patients in using recovery/self-management skills.
• Share lived experience when appropriate to normalize patient experiences.
• Help patients articulate personal goals and plan steps to recovery and wellness.
• Assist with admission/discharge paperwork and collateral meetings as needed.
• Lead or assist in group sessions based on proficiency; engage patients in therapy.
• Complete documentation and utilize EMR and other tools as required.

Education

Certification Peer Counselor

Washington State registration

Driver's license (OR/WA)

Agency Affiliated Registration in WA

WA state mental health specialty (child/disability/older adult)
