Howard University’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences seeks a Recovery Guide to support patients with opioid use disorder. This paid, part-time role trains staff to educate patients on MOUD, harm reduction, and relapse prevention while coordinating recovery plans.

The position emphasizes confidentiality, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and documenting all sessions. Commitment ranges 1–2 years with a focus on engagement and treatment adherence.

Qualifications

• Experience working with persons with opioid use disorder (OUD).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to manage a caseload of up to 8-10 participants (half-time).
• Computer literacy to maintain records, utilize Zoom, and upload documents.
• Ability to document activities in structured progress notes.
• Understanding the impact of social determinants on participants; community roots may help.

Responsibilities

• ProvideRecovery Guiding and counseling to participants in BT-MOUD.
• Follow the Recovery Guiding manual and operate under supervision.
• Complete initial training and certification through workshops.
• Educate participants on MOUD, harm reduction, and recovery goals.
• Assist participants in developing and implementing Recovery Plan Agreements.
• Monitor progress and revise plans to increase success.
