Job summary

Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to provide peer support in inpatient psychiatry and outpatient settings. You will model recovery, teach coping skills, and help clients create personalized recovery plans with community resources.

Under supervision, you will assist clients of all ages in regaining independence, facilitating mutual support groups, and sharing lived experience to inspire hopeful change.

Qualifications

• Identify as a person with lived experience of mental health problems.
• Knowledge of the recovery process and facilitating recovery using standardized processes.
• Ability to teach basic problem-solving strategies to support self-directed recovery.
• Knowledge of signs and symptoms of mental illness and coping strategies.
• Ability to connect clients with community resources and groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in articulating personal recovery goals in one-on-one and group sessions.
• Support clients in creating recovery plans with skills, supports and resources.
• Assist in setting up self-help groups and locating existing groups.
• Utilize WRAP to help clients develop wellness and recovery plans.
• Teach problem solving and coping techniques in individual or group sessions.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends in the mental health field.
