Job summary

Morrison Child and Family Services seeks Parent Mentors with lived recovery experience to support parents entering the Child Welfare system. Mentors model recovery and facilitate connections to services while fostering hope for families.

Mentors collaborate with ODHS and treatment partners, attend meetings, and help families navigate court processes with trauma-informed approaches and culturally responsive practices.

Qualifications

• Personal experience with addiction and recovery.
• Minimum 2 years in active recovery from substances.
• Personal ODHS Child Welfare involvement experience.
• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent writing/reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Empower and coach parents through their case with ODHS, attend meetings and court hearings.
• Develop trusting relationships with parents and attend court/meetings as needed.
• Build connections with ODHS Child Welfare, treatment services and courts.
• Communicate professionally with ODHS staff and caseworkers to support goals.
• Consult with ODHS about culturally specific practices to engage families.
• Encourage participation in Parent Support Group events and activities.
• Facilitate OSLC-KEEP sessions after training and certification.
• Adhere to Morrison Compliance Program and HIPAA training.
• Commit to Sanctuary model and organizational policies.
