Job summary

Morrison Child and Family Services is seeking a Part-Time Parent Mentor to support parents entering the Child Welfare system. Mentors use their lived recovery experience to empower families, attend court and meetings, and connect clients with culturally relevant resources.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, collaboration with ODHS and community partners, and commitment to keeping families intact through recovery and recovery-oriented services.

Qualifications

• Personal experience and knowledge of addiction issues.
• Minimum 2 years in active recovery from using alcohol and other drugs.
• Personal experience of an ODHS Child Welfare case, closed for a minimum 1 year required.
• High School Diploma or GED or high school level writing and reading skills.

Responsibilities

• Empower and coach parents through their case with ODHS and support at family meetings and court hearings.
• Drive parents to appointments in their counties/districts and connect them to resources.
• Develop trusting relationships with child welfare-involved parents and attend court/meetings.
• Communicate professionally with ODHS staff and collaborate with caseworkers to reach goals.
• Consult with ODHS staff on culturally specific practices to engage families.
