Job summary

Center for Human Development, Inc. is seeking a full-time Jail Diversion Peer Support Specialist to provide peer support to individuals in local county jail and connect them with services to reduce recidivism related to significant mental health symptoms.

The PSS will meet clients in the community, support their self-determination in planning and delivering treatment, and work with CHD staff to maximize client choice and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must have a history of mental health symptoms and have received therapy services at some point to establish stability.
• Must complete 40 hour Peer Delivered Services training and register as a Traditional Health Worker- Family Support Partner within 90 days of hire.
• MHACBO certification as Certified Recovery Mentor preferred or willingness to pursue.
• CADC I or ability to obtain CADC I within two years of employment.
• Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s license and be insurable for client service, travel between offices, and attend trainings.
• Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 536-181.537 and related rules.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to individuals in local county jail and connect them with services.
• Meet clients in the community to reduce the likelihood of recidivism due to mental health symptoms.
• Collaborate with CHD staff to maximize client choice, self-determination and decision making in treatment planning.
