Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health in Missouri is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to join our team serving the St. Charles and St. Louis areas.

You will draw on your lived experience with mental health or substance use to inspire recovery and connect clients with resources. The role emphasizes developing treatment plans, coordinating with referral sources, and providing crisis intervention and peer support within the program.

Qualifications

• CPS certification is required.
• Self-identify as a person in recovery or former client of mental health/substance use services.
• Must be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Complete Missouri training program and pass certification exam if required.

Responsibilities

• Assist participants in developing treatment plans.
• Maintain regular communication with referral sources and guardians on progress and documentation.
• Participate in staffing to assure continuity of care.
• Refer issues outside the treatment milieu when needed.
• Assist in scheduling and transportation arrangements.
• Represent the agency professionally.
• Document all services per state/CARF standards.
• Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
• Facilitate group education as scheduled.
• Complete required trainings (36 hours every 2 years).
