Job summary

MHMR of Tarrant County in Texas seeks a Mental Health Peer Specialist to provide recovery-focused services to individuals in MHMR programs, adhering to TAC requirements, and offering mentoring and advocacy in group and individual settings.

Drawing from personal recovery experience, you will teach coping techniques, develop educational and support groups, and assist clients in accessing community resources and natural supports.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: High School Diploma/GED.
  • Preferences: Completed peer specialist orientation and self-assessment, completed Peer Specialist Core Training, and passed the knowledge assessment
  • Experience: Must have at least one (1) year of cumulative experience as a recipient of community mental health services for a condition within Texas' target population, along with self-reported life experience in active recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide recovery-focused services to individuals in MHMR programs, adhering to TAC requirements.
  • Offer recovery and wellness support, mentoring, and advocacy in group and individual settings.
  • Develop and implement educational, support, and affiliation groups tailored to individual needs and preferences, while assisting clients in efficiently utilizing community resources and natural support.
