Job summary

COMHAR, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Recovery Counselor in the Philadelphia area to provide recovery‑oriented counseling, skill building, and community integration. You will document accurately, work within a multidisciplinary team, and support individuals in directing their own recovery journey.

The role emphasizes person‑centered care, motivation interviewing, and collaboration with Certified Peer Specialists. A strong commitment to wellness and autonomy is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years in human services or CPS with 1 year in mental health direct service
• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree with 1 year of mental health direct service experience
• CPS Certificate required; lived experience in recovery is valued

Responsibilities

• Engage individuals using recovery-oriented, person-centered practices
• Provide education, coaching, and skill development for recovery goals
• Assess strengths and needs to support individualized recovery plans
• Support goal setting using motivational interviewing techniques
• Provide individual and group coaching and skills training including living skills
• Educate on evidence-based recovery practices and WRAP concepts
• Link to self-help, peer support, and community resources
• Collaborate with peer specialists and multidisciplinary team members
• Assist with housing access and community integration
• Maintain timely documentation and participate in supervision
