Job description

Clinicians (e.g., Licensed, Licensed Eligible, LBA, BCBA)

Will provide support and clinical training to youth in a short-term, sub-acute crisis stabilization unit. Responsible for developing and implementing intervention strategies, as well as leading individual and group support classes to assist in recovery. Provide education, empowerment, and support to the individuals in the unit. Collect data and provide accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory standards. Will provide crisis intervention services as needed. Will facilitate and obtain information necessary to admit and discharge individuals from the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Maximum of Eight)
  • To provide individualized support and training services to youth meeting criteria for the Crisis Stabilization Unit in order to promote recovery and meet the program goal of reducing reliance on more restrictive inpatient services.
  • As Recovery Counselor, will develop and implement intervention strategies through individualized service plans. Will lead individual and group training classes to assist in recovery. Position will monitor the clinical effectiveness of counseling approaches used in the program.
  • Will collect and maintain data and provide accurate documentation appropriate to the needs of individuals served in accordance with all regulatory and Licensure standards while complying with confidentiality regulations.
  • Will provide case management services to individuals who meet eligibility criteria for the Crisis Stabilization Unit; person in the position will determine needs and develop treatment goals based upon assessment.
  • Lead clinical coordinator for services delivered to individuals; person will make referrals and provide advocacy as needed.
  • Actively participates in meetings such as supervision and staffings, and committees as assigned; utilizing these meetings for active problem solving and to enhance a team approach to decision making. Provide clinical supervision to staff regarding recovery, interventions and outcomes.
  • Assist the Program Manager as needed with discharge planning, including liasion and crisis services, referrals, discharge summaries, medication procedures, and follow up services.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emergency case management services when necessary, following MRCSB crisis procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual/developmental difficulties symptomology.
  • Knowledge of treatment modalities and case management approaches, such as service coordination, behavior management, independent living skills training, supportive counseling, family education, and discharge planning.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to implement and lead individual and group training sessions, focusing on increasing recovery and self-determination.
  • Knowledge of mental health, intellectual/developmental difficulties, and substance abuse confidentiality guidelines
  • Basic computer skills
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Master's degree in Human Services field required. Knowledge of mental illness/substance abuse symptomology and experience working with individuals with mental health and substance abuse disabilities.
